When the Butler family needed to sell their property in Miramar, Wellington, they called on Holmes Farsight to help them get the Council approvals they needed for some minor insulation and internal lining work they had carried several years earlier. This project was under considerable time pressure – the house tenders were closing and an application for a Certificate of Acceptance to Wellington City Council had to be made as soon as possible.
Getting council approval for a ‘pragmatic’ level of works
Holmes Farsight was the interface between the Butler family and the council, advising on the swiftest and most efficient compliance path – what forms and approvals were needed, in what order, to keep things on track. Our challenge was to gain council approval for the unconsented works as soon as possible, and attend the required Council inspection on the Butler’s behalf so the house sale could go through.
The right solution
Holmes Farsight’s extensive knowledge and reporting enabled the application to sail through Council with no hiccups. The house sold on time enabling the Butlers to move on to their new life in Auckland, while the new home-owners had peace of mind that the works carried out had met the building code.
